Leslie and the Lys is pop outfit from Ames, Iowa that's led by front-woman Leslie Hall. Also known as Mother Gem, Hall composes all of the music herself on the computer program GarageBand. With an off-kilter electro pop sound and comedy-infused live shows that include an ugly sweater contest, Leslie and the Lys has collected a dedicated following since its debut album, Gold Pants, which was released in 2005.
