Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Helena creates synthpop music inspired by her childhood in Mussoorie, India. With a sitarist father and a classical Indian vocalist as her mother, Helena has been submerged in Indian and Western classical music since she was a child, growing accustomed to religious chanting instead of the latest pop music and taking up violin when she was only four years old. In 2010 she moved to Los Angeles where she earned money playing violin on the streets of Venice Beach and Santa Monica. After adopting a loop pedal as part of her act, her music began to take on the synthy textures that would go on to define her music and get her noticed by Warner Bros. Records, who signed Helena in 2012.
