Borknagar was founded in 1995 by Øystein Brun. Primarily a black metal band, Brun formed this group to showcase to the world the melodic side of metal music. The band's music fuses black metal and folk metal to deliver albums like The Olden Domain, The Archaic Course, Quintessence, Epic and Winter Thrice. The past lineup of this band includes Ivar Bjørnson, Infernus, Kai Lie, Vintersorg, Erik "Grim" Brødreskift and the likes.
