About

Nashville-based singer Gabe Dixon was influenced early-on by the likes of Billy Joel, Jackson Browne and Elton John. He started out in the late 1990s as the frontman of his rock group The Gabe Dixon Band while at the University of Miami. The group released its debut album More Than It Would Seem before relocating to New York City and signing with Reprise. Its second album On a Rolling Ball, its major-label debut, was released in 2002. Prior to its release, Dixon featured on Paul McCartney's 2001 album as a keyboardist and backing vocalist. He also performed with McCartney at a 9/11 fundraiser in New York. The band released an EP Live at World Cafe with Reprise before signing with Fantasy Records and releasing its eponymous third album. After working together for close to a decade, the band called it quits after Dixon decided to focus on his solo act. His first solo effort, 2011's One Spark, featured a collaboration with Alison Krauss and was produced by Marshall Altman. Dixon's second album Turns to Gold was released on his own label Rolling Ball Records and featured a more organic and raw sound. Singer Natalie Prass made an appearance on the track "The Way to Love Me."
