Self Defense Family is a post hardcore outfit that initially emerged out of Cohoes, New York in 2003 under the name End of a Year. After capturing its post punk-infused brand of emo on three records, beginning with 2004's Disappear Here, the group changed its name to Self Defense Family, marking the reformatting of the band to include all touring and session musicians who had contributed so far. With its new arrangement, Self Defense Family released its fourth studio album Try Me, in 2014 with Deathwish, Inc.
