Comprised of Claire Boucher (best known as the lady behind Grimes) and Tim Lafontaine (of noise outfit Cop Car Bonfire), Membrain came about in 2012, despite its band members already overly busy schedules. While it is primarily the project of Lafontaine, Boucher adds her ethereal, girly vocals to the band's experimental drone techno. Because Membrain is an improvisational act at heart, the group is best experienced in a live setting.
