The Magnetic Ear is a jazz ensemble from New Orleans. Formed in the mid-2000s by tenor saxophonist Martin Krusche, the group blends traditional New Orleans music with West African and European influences to create it's own modern jazz sound. With a traditional brass band instrumental repertoire, The Magnetic Ears released its debut album, After the Rain, in 2006, and has since continued to record original material and jazz standards, as well as occasional cover versions of popular rock songs, on records such as its 2010 LP, Aliens of Extraordinary Ability.
