Detroit techno legend Kevin Saunderson is referred by many as one of Detroit's "Belleville Three," named after the town of Belleville in Michigan. It is here in Belleville that Saunderson met producers Derrick May and Juan Atkins, the three of them coming together around their obsession with Kraftwerk, disco and funk music. Inspired in large part by Kraftwerk's unique sound, the three producers began experimenting with many of the same sounds, creating was is now known as the Detroit techno sound. Saunderson continues to make music and tour the globe, playing to an international, techno-obsessed audience that revers a techno originator as much as the latest experiments in sound.
