Located in Wheeling, West Virginia The Wheeling Nailers is a ECHL ice hockey team. The Nailers were formed in 1981. The team is an affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins who play in the NHL. In 1981 the organization went by the Carolina Thunderbirds. The Thunderbirds captured four regular season title in a row. It also won three Bob Paine Trophies, which are league championships. The Nailers colors are black, Vegas gold, and white. The team plays it homes games at WesBanco Arena.
