West Virginia University is a public land grant research university located in the rural setting of Morgantown, West Virginia. Having distinguished itself with a forward-thinking academic system since its inception in 1867, the school's sports teams--the Mountaineers--have also done much to set it apart and provide it with the recognition and respect it deserves. The teams compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I and have been part of the Big 12 since joining in 2012.
