With influences that range from The Stooges to Brian Eno to Superchunk to Tom Petty, John Velghe has no problem shifting from crooning pop-rock ballad to densely-layered orchestral jam, surprising the audience at every turn. Born and raised in Missouri, Velghe has been playing in bands for the past 20 years, including Saint Jude and The Daybirds, and has composed several film scores and soundtracks. With a full backing band, which he calls the The Prodigal Sons, Velghe puts on an entertaining show.
