Since 1997, Southern California-based band Trapt have a part of a strong contingent of the power-rock (often referred to as butt rock) scene that emerged in the late 90s and helped define an era of commercially successful pop rock that would dominate at the turn of the 21st century. Trapt's lyrics are known for their angst-ridden themes, often filled with anger and disappointment at people's personal failings. Trapt's music is filled with tightly wound distorted guitars and drums to compliment their equally tense lyrics.
