About
This dynamic group of male singers has declared its mission to inspire audiences and members alike with renditions ranging from jazz and Broadway numbers to pop and classical pieces. Being a group where differences are celebrated and a sense of family is encouraged, it's not hard to understand why the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus is so successful at spreading a positive message, especially when mixed with such an array of talent. The group's origins bring us back to 1978 and the assassination of Mayor George Moscone and homosexual City Supervisor Harvey Milk. The singers' first performance was at an impromptu memorial for the two dearly-remembered Bay politicians. Tallying at about 200 volunteer vocalists, the SFGMC always encourages prospective joiners to audition.
