The Doors was one of the more influential bands to emerge out of the 1960s. Though front-man Jim Morrison could have toned down his psychedelic neo-hippy vibe, the group is arguably one of the best bands to represent the West Coast '60s sound. After Morrison became a bloated mess and retreated into a self-imposed French exile, he died. But the other members of the group were still alive and ready to rock so they decided to carry on with their sonic tinkerings. The group's ridiculously talented keyboardist Ray Manzarek, probably the most gifted member of the group, went on to do a number of different projects. He still plays Doors songs and occasionally plays with erstwhile band mate Robby Kreieger.
