English brit-pop band Inspiral Carpets is one of Britain's great 1990s claims to fame. Spearheading the Brit-pop and Madchester sounds of that time, the band captured a blue collar UK climate that was dealing with unemployment, political unrest and economic austerity. The band's biggest hit "This Is How It Feels" summed up this cultural milieu perfectly, and was a UK chart success to boot. The band has taken breaks off and on since their start in the late 1980s, and have returned in the 21st century to play new and old material to a loyal and emphatic fan base.
