Mexico City-based singer/songwriter Joe Volume began his music career in 2007 when his group, The Vincent Black Shadows, released its debut LP, I (Heart) Broken (Harts). Though the band experienced a good amount of commercial and critical success, with two of its singles performing exceptionally well, strains in group dynamics forced The Vincent Black Shadows to break up in 2008. Never one to balk at the first downturn of success, Volume carried on and began recording music of his own and playing shows, where his natural performance ability would lead some to compare the lead singer to rock luminaries like Joe Strummer or Iggy Pop. Volume launched his solo career in 2009 with Picture Perfect Paranoia, a straightforward rock album that harks back to the glory days of unfettered musical purity.
