Like recent popular upstarts such as Passion Pit and Friendly Fires, the five-piece uses post punk-tinged indie rock as a base to layer bouncy electronic beats, synthesizers and 1980s pop melodies atop of. The group's music is energetic and highly danceable, making it prime for crossover success with both dance pop and indie rock fans. With continued touring and exposure outside of Australia, Gold Fields is likely to begin receiving a lot more positive word of mouth from enthusiastic audiences.
