The Golden Awesome is a New Zealand-based indie rock band that leans heavily on inspiration drawn from shoegaze legends such as Ride and My Bloody Valentine. Based out of the harbor city of Wellington, the band released Autumn, its debut album, in 2011. The ethereal dream pop melodies and attention paid to rich guitar textures helped set the group apart from the rest of the New Zealand music scene in a hurry, and soon, it was performing to appreciative fans outside of its home country's borders. Recent appearances at the South By Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas should help The Golden Awesome quickly find fans for its indie rock/shoegaze hybrid on a much larger scale.
