Formed in 2005, The Curious Mystery is a rock band that manages to draw inspiration from a wide range of sub-sects of the genre. Using bits of lo-fi garage, Americana and 1960s psychedelia, chief songwriting/multi-instrumentalist duo Shana Cleveland and Nicolas Gonzalez signed with K Records in 2008 and went on to record the group's debut album with Calvin Johnson, the label's founder and former member of legendary 1980s indie rock band, Beat Happening. The band's jangly and endearingly loose style has made it congruent with plenty of modern indie rock scenes, leading to its inclusion of the 2012 South By Southwest music showcase.
