However, with his hazy aesthetic that almost borders on an R&B artist's take on chillwave, The Weeknd pulls sexy R&B out of the 1990s and into this century. Fellow Canadian artist, Drake helped provide hype for The Weeknd and he has quickly emerged out of the underground music scene to the top of the charts.
