Well, she's a Brazilian born in New York, and she spent a good deal of time in Europe soaking up the pop aesthetic all along the way. Her vocals are distinctly Brazilian, with a lot of influence from greats like Gal Costa and Os Mutantes, but her electropop production style owes more to American and European influences. But through and through, Gilberto is a singer of love who fills every song with warm texture and smooth vocals.
