DJ Ötzi is the stage name of the Austrian singer and entertainer Gerhard Friedle. He sings simple, uptempo pop music, mostly in German as well as some songs in the English language, and is influenced by German folk music (Volksmusik). Friedle has been producing albums and performing on stage since 2000 and became internationally successful in late 2000 with his cover version of Bruce Channel's song "Hey Baby", which peaked #1 in the UK, France, Australia and Japan. With 15 million copies sold, he is among the most successful Austrian singers of all times.
