The project of Mark Robertson, Spiritual South is not based out of the American South, but out of London. Drawing on influences from Africa, South America and the Caribbean Islands, Robertson interweaves elements of calypso, afrobeat, samba and a touch of the blues to a surprisingly cohesive effect. Though a one-man show, Spiritual South sounds like a diversely trained full band, and has slowly built a name for itself throughout the UK.
