Kapowski

About

Kapowski is an indie pop band based in Oakland that began with the home recordings of singer/songwriter Jesse Rimler, his brother Jacob Rimler and bassist Jon Gondo in the early 2000s. Inspired by the 1960s British Invasion pop music, the three musicians began recording and playing shows around the bay area with various lineups. Kapowski solidified as a four-piece band after Jesse and Gondo were joined by pianist Michael Coleman and drummer Sam Ospovat. With influences in classical music and 1970s progressive rock, the band creates an indie pop sound complete with horns, an organ, string arrangements and Jesse's distinctive ballads.
