The Samples is a Boulder, Colorado-based band that helped pioneer the jam rock sound that existed in the Rocky Mountain State in the 1990s. Initially starting as a project of musicians Sean Kelly and Charles Hambleton while they were living in Burlington, Vermont, after a move to Colorado, the band's lineup started to fill out as it attracted talented local musicians. The Samples released its eponymously-titled debut album in 1989 on its own label and continue to self-publish its new new releases.
