Irvin Mayfield is a jazz musician, composer and bandleader from New Orleans who is renowned as one of the most prominent trumpeters in modern jazz. A Cultural Ambassador of the City of New Orleans and State of Louisiana, a title he earned in 2003, he is an integral force of innovation and tradition within the city's ever-burgeoning jazz scene. Since releasing his eponymous debut album in 1998, Mayfield he has continued to record and perform under his own name, as well as with his long-time outfit Los Ombres Calientes.
