With deep dub grooves and lyrics that focus on the oppression of the Jamaican people, the roots reggae outfit Midnite has managed to do something that few reggae bands do: create original music that's equally matched by intelligent and forthright lyrics. The group gained cohesion in the 1990s and after a bout of shows--opening up for prominent musicians and bands from the reggae genre--Midnite made a name for itself and the group continues to be one of the "must see" bands of the reggae genre.
