Written by German writer Michael Ende, The NeverEnding Story is a beloved fantasy novel about a boy's adventures in the land of Fantastica. The main protagonist of the novel, Bastian, steals a book from a local bookshop and hides away in the attic of his school to read. Soon, he is whisked away on an incredible journey where he meets the Childlike Empress and a variety of other interesting and fantastical creatures. Since its first publication in 1979, the novel has been adapted to film, a stage play, ballet, opera and even an animated series on German television.
