Lee Ranaldo

Widely known as the guitarist co-founder of Sonic Youth, Lee Ranaldo is a singer/songwriter, musician, producer and visual artist from Glen Cover, Long Island who got his start in several different bands in the New York area, including Glenn Branca's electric guitar orchestra. During a gig with Branca's band, Ranaldo caught the attention of Thurston Moore, who asked him to join a project that would go on to be known as Sonic Youth. The newly formed band released its eponymous debut album in 1982, quickly became a mainstay in the no wave music and art scene of New York City and has since maintained its status as a premier alternative rock band. While continuing to work with Sonic Youth, Ranaldo dropped his first solo album, 1987's From Here to Infinity, and established himself as solid one-man act and one of the greatest guitarists of modern rock with an impressive catalog of over three dozen records.
