About
Formed by Jonathan Sullivan, of Jack's Mannequin fame, Kid Is Qual is a trio of musicians with a penchant for the bass and chiptune. Foregoing a guitar completely, the band uses two basses, a drumset and analog effect pedals to create a dance-heavy electropop sound, complete with gritty, electronically-altered vocals. Though only a side project for Sullivan, who still tours constantly with Jack's Mannequin, Kid Is Qual has picked up a sizable fan base since 2007.
