Essentially a hybrid of the bands Gallows, Haunts and Cry for Silence--all fairly popular bands in the UK--Spy Catcher was formed in 2008. Based out of Watford, UK, the band began releasing free demos at shows and online, quickly building up a grassroots fan base before releasing a debut album in 2011. The five-piece calls its style of music "grit-pop," but is perhaps best summed up as alternative rock with pop punk lyrics.
