Voivod is a heavy metal band from Quebec, Canada that was founded in 1982. With a style that has evolved considerably since its inception, during the group's formative years it pursued a defined speed metal sound only to vier into progressive metal territory and ultimately a distinctive thrash metal sonic aesthetic. Releasing its debut album, War and Pain, in 1984, Voivod has since kept active with a prolific LP output in addition to a busy international touring regime.
