Michael Gira is a singer/songwriter and musician from Los Angeles who is best known as front man of the post punk Swans. After the Swans disbanded in 1997, he embarked in a new musical direction towards a softer, more subdued sound with the band Angels of Light as well as on his own. His subsequent albums experimented with found sounds, loops and vast soundscapes driven by acoustic guitar.
