The heavy metal band Textures emerged out of the Netherlands in 2001 with a progressive metal sound. The band captured a complex sound, a combination of metalcore, melodic death metal and groove metal, on its debut album Polars, which earned critical acclaim upon its release in 2003. With an international following, the band began to produce catchier music with the release of its 2008 album Silhouettes, while maintaining its signature use of brutal rhythms and layered textures.
