About
Anthony Terrell Smith, known professionally as Tone Loc, was born on March 3, 1966, in Los Angeles, California. He first gained prominence as a rapper with his debut album Lōc-ed After Dark (1989), featuring hits like "Wild Thing" and "Funky Cold Medina," which cemented his place in hip-hop history. The album's success led to a 2× Platinum certification. Tone Loc’s subsequent album, Cool Hand Lōc (1991), had moderate success but did not reach the heights of his debut. Beyond music, he made notable contributions to film and television, appearing in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and providing voices for animated series such as King of the Hill and Chowder. Despite facing legal and health issues, including multiple onstage collapses, Tone Loc remains a significant figure in 90s nostalgia tours and continues to influence the entertainment industry.
