The Cardigans was formed from the ashes of a heavy metal band in Sweden. Opting to a complete a musical 180°, the band veered towards a more pop friendly sound that was heightened with the aid of female vocalist Nina Persson. The group received commercial success in the mid-1990s and has been busy releasing listener friendly albums ever since.
