Legendary percussionist Charlie Watts is a London-based artist best known as the original drummer of one of rock and roll's most renowned acts, The Rolling Stones. Inspired by jazz records to take up drumming, Watts joined the blues rock band Blues Incorporated before meeting Brian Jones, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ian Stewart who were regulars at the several London rhythm and blues clubs where Watts performed. He agreed to join The Rolling Stones in 1963, a project that would go on to sell hundreds of millions of albums world-wide and be considered one of the greatest music acts of all time. Apart from his work with the Stones, he has played in jazz ensembles, big bands and other blues bands such as Rocket 88 while also recording and releasing solo material including his 1991 debut studio album From One Charlie and his 2010 effort The Magic of Boogie Woogie. Often cited as the key member by his Stones band mates Richards and Jagger, Watts played a pivotal role in the success of the legendary band and was inducted into the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 2006 along with the likes of Ringo Star and Keith Moon.
