Izaline Calister is a jazz-influenced songwriter and vocalist from Curaçao. Singing in her native language of Papiamentu, she incorporates characteristics not only from her home island, but also from Dutch jazz and world music into her songwriting, resulting in a unique hybrid of African, Calypso and Caribbean sounds. Despite her lyrics being lost in transition to many of her audiences, Calister is able to command a crowd thanks to the powerful range and confidence in her voice, seamlessly transitioning between several different moods. She continues to enjoy a devoted following of fans who appreciate her unique take on world-influenced vocal jazz music.
