Sydney Thunder is one of the eight teams that make up the Big Bash League (BBL) which is Australia's Twenty20 cricket competition. The team was formed in 2011 to carry on the legacy of its predecessor, the New South Wales Blues. It made its debut in the first edition of BBL and has been a part of it ever since. Even though it failed to create any major waves during the first few seasons, it delivered a series of top-notch performances in 2016 and became the titleholder. Many of cricket’s popular players like Jacques Kallis, Shane Watson and Michael Hussey have been a part of this team. It holds its home games at the Sydney Showground Stadium.
