Translating to wolf in both Norwegian and Swedish, Varg has been a popular name for a variety of metal bands. The most recent and arguably most successful of these is the viking metal band based out of Coburg, Germany. Formed in 2005, the five-piece released its first album two years later to positive acclaim throughout the European metal scene. Since then, Varg has deepened its sound and signed to major label Noise Art Records.
