Formed out of the demise of several bands and several relationships gone awry, New Years Day brought together band members all at emotional places in their lives. Fittingly, the band began producing emo-laden pop songs with anthemic hooks, but heavy lyrics. Building a fan base through MySpace in 2005, the band quickly became popular with a teenage audience and resultingly was added to the bill on Warped Tour, which helped spread the band's name across the US.
