The Quiet Americans is a noise pop band from Fresno, CA. Formed by songwriter Luke Giffen and drummer Eli Reyes, the band released its 2011 debut EP Medicine, which was recorded entirely on a Tascam 8 track recorder, giving the record a lo-fi grain and garage-rock echoes. The opening track and first single "Be Alone," characterizes the EP with a twangy and slightly out of tune guitar opener that is pushed forward by commanding drums. The reverb in the vocals throughout the record create a dizzying effect that disguises Giffen's voice as another instrument. The Quiet Americans combination of bright melodies and reverberating guitar creates a poppy brand of lo-fi rock that is a refreshing change among the many electro-pop band of the late 2000s.
