Michael Showalter is an American comedian/actor/director who has won a good amount of accolades within the alternative comedy community. One-third of the comedy troupe Stella, and a member of groundbreaking 1990s sketch show The State, he began in the comedy world in his college years, after meeting longtime collaborators David Wain and Michael Ian Black on campus in New York City. Besides starring in countless television shows, films and comedy specials, Showalter co-wrote Wet Hot American Summer in 2001 (alongside Wain) and directed the 2005 romantic comedy The Baxter, casting himself alongside Academy Award nominee, Michelle Williams.
