Growing up listening to such legendary musicians as Frank Zappa, Jimi Hendrix, and King Crimson, Fred Maurin fell in love with the improvisation and orchestral music of Jazz. Quitting his job as an engineer in 2001, Maurin decided to pursue his love of music full time. He is now the leader of a thirteen-piece jazz orchestra, Ping Machine, for whom he writes original compositions. Ping Machine has won multiple awards recognizing their talent in jazz, and performs once a month in Paris in various venues.
