Written by Euripides, based on the tragic Greek myth, Hippolytus is a story of lust, love and secrecy. Phaedra is the wife of Theseus, the king of Athens; she falls in love with her stepson Hippolytus who is sworn to chastity and has devoted his life to Artemis, goddess of the hunt. Phaedra is so distraught with shame that she refuses to eat or sleep and in her weakened state, confesses her love for Hippolytus to her nurse. Soon Phaedra's secret is out, throwing both Hippolytus and his father into a rage.
