JD Samson

JD Samson is a singer/songwriter, musician and DJ from Cleveland, Ohio who is best-known as a member of the dance punk band Le Tigre. Allowing her feminist beliefs to color the fabric of her work, she joined Le Tigre in 2000 and helped add to the heated dialogue about sexual equality with records such as 2001's Feminist Sweepstakes. Though the group went on a hiatus in 2006, Samson and her band mate Johanna Fateman quickly started the project MEN, and released a self-titled EP in 2009. She continues to work with the outfit, which has since adopted the name JD Samson & MEN, while also operating as co-founder of the performance art group Dykes Can Dance and as a the keyboardist of Peaches' live band, The Herms.
