Alexander Borodin

Borodin was a Russian nationalist composer, who focused his work on furthering the identification of distinctly Russian cultural production. His work as a composer included symphonies, string quartets and operas, most notably Prince Igor. He was a member of an elite group of Russian artists known as "The Five," or "The Mighty Handful." His unconventional compositional ear was complimented by an equally esteemed career as a chemist, proving Borodin's incisive intellect.
