Avial

About

Avial is an electronic-tinged alternative rock band from Kerala, India. The group's name is derived from a South Indian food dish that utilizes contrasting ingredients--which is fitting for its hybrid style. Avial's music takes elements of jazz, funk and traditional Indian music, and displays them in the context of modern American alternative guitar rock. Subtle electronic flourishes can be heard in the band's use of turntables and digital beats, as well. Avial released its debut full-length album in 2008 and has since performed in cities all throughout India, including Mumbai, Delhi and Madras.
