The Hellacopters

The Hellacopters is a Swedish hard rock band that received a decent amount of attention during the popular garage rock revival of the early 2000s. The group formed in Stockholm in 1994, inspired by the likes of classic punk-injected rock bands such as The Stooges and The MC5. Much like those bands, The Hellacopters used a slick template of driving guitar riffs, confident swagger and high-energy live performances, updating them all with a 1970s hard rock edge. The group released a number of successful albums in Sweden throughout the 1990s, and in the beginning of the 21st Century, the band rode the wave of attention paid to garage rock bands such as The Hives and The White Stripes, gaining international publicity along the way. The Hellacopters broke up in 2008, shortly after the release of its final album, entitled Head Off. The band regrouped in 2016 to perform at the 20th anniversary of its debut album. It subsequently performed at music festivals like the Sweden Rock Festival and Roskilde Festival.
