About
Nena Daconte, a Spanish pop band led by singer and songwriter Mai Meneses, was formed in Barcelona around 2005. The band, named after a character in Gabriel García Márquez's short story, initially gained fame with their debut album He Perdido los Zapatos (2006), featuring the hit single "Idiota" and the chart-topping "En qué estrella estará." Their second album, Retales de Carnaval (2008), solidified their success with the popular single "Tenía Tanto Que Darte" and the critically acclaimed "El Aleph." The band’s third album, Una Mosca en el Cristal (2010), included the notable single "No te invité a dormir." They released Solo Muerdo por Ti in 2013, which topped iTunes Spain charts, and took a hiatus before returning with Suerte in 2019. Nena Daconte has earned multiple awards, including Premio Ondas and Platinum certifications, and continues to be a significant force in Spanish pop music.
